Here is Pastor Karen's devotion today

Good morning!

What would you do if your child were ill and the doctors could do nothing for him?

Yes, you would pray for him and continue to pray for him—even beg the Lord to heal him if God did not seem to respond immediately to your request. You would be ready to do whatever you could to save your child and you would go to the one, the only One, who could bring about a miracle, if it were His will.

And if the Lord were to heal your son, you would believe in the miracle that saved him and in the power of the One who worked the miracle—and your entire household, who witnessed such a miracle, would also believe.

That’s what happened when a royal official’s son lay ill in Capernaum in John 4:46-54. When the official heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, this Jesus who had changed the water into wine in Cana, the man went and begged Jesus to come and heal his son:

“For he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, ‘Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.’ The official said to him, ‘Sir, come down before my little boy dies.’ “Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your son will live.’ The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way. As he was going down, his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive. So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, ‘Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him.’ The father realized that this was the hour when Jesus had said to him, ‘Your son will live.’ So he himself believed, along with his whole household.”

Don’t wait for a crisis in your life to move you to pray and persevere in prayer. The Lord wants to hear what is in your heart now and He wants you to trust in Him. Ask Him for healing—but ask in faith.

Are you worried about your children or grandchildren today? Are you worried about someone or something else?

Take your worries to the Lord. For He cares for you and your loved ones!

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, we worry about the ones we love all the time, though you tell us not to. We are afraid that we are not doing enough to help them or that something bad will happen if we don’t keep on worrying about them. We give worry way too much power in our lives! We forget that our worrying does nothing except wear us out! Lord, turn our anxious thoughts into prayers of trust. Stir us to pray every day and persevere in prayer when we fear you are not responding to our request. Lord, please heal our loved ones—friends, family and neighbors—who are sick or fighting cancer. Restore them to wholeness—body, mind and soul. Give them your peace. Help them to trust in You. In Christ we pray. Amen.

Blessings in Christ!

Pastor Karen
