Here is Pastor Karen's devotion today, Tuesday October 9

Good morning!

What are your plans today? Is your schedule full? Did you stay up late last night worrying about what had to be done today and making mental lists?

Wait—before you run off this morning and try to do everything on your to-do list…. Did you ask the Lord what His plans are for you?

Did you ask Him what He wants you to do?

Psalm 127 begins:

“Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord guards the city,
the guard keeps watch in vain.
It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious toil;
for he gives sleep to his beloved.”

Let us begin the day together by letting go of anxious thoughts and giving Him thanks.

Let us being this day by placing our trust in He who builds the house, guards the city, and gives sleep to His beloved.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this day that You made for us! Thank you for calling us “Your beloved” and giving us Your only Son so we would be reconciled with You. We place our trust in You, Holy God, and not in ourselves or our jobs. We know that everything you want us to do will get done. You will be faithful to use us for your Kingdom work, if we give our hearts to You. Grant us joy as we walk in Your ways, singing your praise. Keep us from falling into a routine of anxious toil, feeling as if we are not doing enough. Turn our hearts back to our “Home” with You—wherever we are and whatever we are doing. And when the day is done, grant us Your peace and rest. In Christ, our Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Today’s readings are Micah 1:1-9; Acts 23:12-24; Luke 7:1-17; and Psalms 120-127.

Blessings in Christ!

Pastor Karen
